Tierra del Fuego is home to the only colony of King Penguins in South America. It is one of the most important destinations in the regional offer.
Tierra del Fuego Island has an area of 22,593 km², making it the largest island in Chile and South America. Its characteristics in relation to climate, geology and history make it a unique place. It is made up of two large areas; the northern part is a steppe zone, where cattle ranches abound, and the southern part has large forests, lakes, mountains and glaciers. You can reach the island by sea, in a 2-hour navigation across the Strait of Magellan, you reach the port Chiloé Bay, 5 km away is the city of Porvenir, founded in 1894 for the service of the cattle ranches of Tierra del Fuego, the other access to the island is by land to reach the crossing of first angostura, navigation of 40 minutes by the narrowest part of the Strait of Magellan.
